Ultram (tramadol) capsule is a medication containing tramadol, which is used to help relieve moderate to moderately severe pain. It belongs to a class of drugs known as opioid analgesics.

Before taking Ultram (tramadol) capsule, it is important to consult your doctor or pharmacist, especially if you have any of the following conditions:

• Consciousness disorder
• State of shock
• Breathing problems
• Renal or hepatic issues
• Drug addiction

Do not take Ultram capsule with MAO inhibitors. Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking carbamazepine or ondansetron, as they may reduce the effectiveness of Ultram. Avoid concomitant use or inform your doctor if you are taking painkillers such as morphine, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, antidepressants, antipsychotics, or anticoagulants, as they can interact with Ultram and increase the risk of side effects or affect blood clotting.

Food has no significant effect on the efficacy of Ultram (tramadol) capsule. However, taking alcohol with Ultram can exaggerate its effects.

Avoid giving Ultram capsule to children with breathing problems, as it may worsen the condition.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, do not take Ultram (tramadol) capsule, as it can pass into breast milk and cross the placenta, potentially causing withdrawal symptoms in the baby. The use of Ultram does not affect fertility in males or females.

Ultram (tramadol) capsule may cause drowsiness or sleepiness. Therefore, avoid driving or operating machinery while taking Ultram capsule until you are aware of how your body responds to the medication.

Always take Ultram (tramadol) capsule exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. The recommended dosage depends on the intensity of pain and individual sensitivity. The usual dose ranges from 50mg to 100mg taken every 4-6 hours. Take the capsule orally as a whole with a glass of water.

If you accidentally take a double dose, there is generally no need to worry as it usually has no harmful effects. However, if you take a large amount of Ultram capsules, immediately contact your doctor or visit the nearest hospital or emergency department. Symptoms of an overdose may include pupil contraction, drop in blood pressure, unconsciousness, fits, and difficulty breathing.

If you missed your scheduled dose of Ultram capsule, take it as soon as you remember or take the next dose at the right time. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

The duration of treatment should be decided by your doctor. Ultram capsule can cause addiction and dependency, so stopping the medication suddenly can result in withdrawal symptoms. Your doctor will gradually lower the dose before stopping it to avoid withdrawal effects.

Some common side effects associated with the use of Ultram (tramadol) capsule include dizziness, nausea, drowsiness, headache, fatigue, constipation, dry mouth, and sweating. If you experience severe or persistent side effects, consult your doctor.

Keep Ultram (tramadol) capsule out of reach and sight of children. Store it below 30°C. Do not use Ultram capsule after the expiry date mentioned on the pack or blister strip.
